Wednesday:
Today was pretty busy. We started with our grocery storing, to which Liam threw a fit a few times about getting in his car seat. I kinda rolled my eyes and let it pass, knowing he was just being 2 (which makes me hope maybe things will magically change there once he turns 3 this month). We did all our storing, then came home for lunch then nap, and after nap, we loaded up to go pick up Nanny Frances so I could go to a postpartum visit. I had Liam climb in his car seat as I went in to finish getting all my stuff, and while I was in the door way, headed out, I hear him screaming. Based on the earlier happenings of the day, I thought it was just another fit, but it was much more desperate. I went over to his side and found him having hopped out of his car seat, and now red faced, screaming, trying to get away from his car seat. I looked down and saw a scorpion on the top of his car seat. Yes, a SCORPION!! Anyone who knows me, knows I'm terribly horribly afraid of scorpions, even writing their name gives me shivers. Having your son stung by one, yelling out in pain and terror, doesn't help that. I snatched him up, and smushed the scorpion with his shoe from the garage floor. I felt so bad for Liam. He was just climbing in his car seat like he always does, and then this demon bug from Hell comes and stings his leg! He was very shaken, and very afraid, and he kept saying, "That bubm hurt me! It get me!" My heart just went out to him. After I killed the scorpion and threw it away, I took his car seat out and tossed it up and down in the driveway, just in case there was another. I did the same thing with Annabelle's too. Liam asked me, "Did that scare you Mommy?", to which I told him "Yes, it did." Then he asked, "Did that scare Anbel?" It's so sweet that he has the heart space to think of his sister in such a terrible time.
We went over if he ever sees one again, to immediately come get mom or dad or whoever is there, and if it's around Anbel, to push her away from it and come and get someone. I think he understood. I hate those bugs, there is no purpose to have them, and are truly terrible cursed beasts.
We picked up Frances, and when we got home, I took out one of Phillip's snus and opened it to get the tobacco out and stuck some on a band-aid then put that over the sting. In my experience, that helps with any sting. I didn't know of any alternatives that I have available, so I figured Phillip could sacrifice a snus. When I got back a couple hours later, Frances said Liam never even spoke of his leg or the sting or the band-aid. I guess it worked.
