Saturday:

We celebrated Liam's and Papa's birthday today. We got Liam a cupcake cake in the shape of a monkey and Mona made Gary a carrot cake. Before cake though, we did presents. Liam really liked tearing into each one, cards flying, paper everywhere, and he had little interest in any of the toys. I think the airplane that Joe, Jenny and Lenore got him caught his eye the most. Aunt Nancy got Annabelle a present too, to make sure she didn't feel left out. It was a toy phone, with one button on it, and it played three different gingles. Liam couldn't keep his hands off of it.

It was time for cake after that, and Liam couldn't wait to dig in. He put the candles on the cake himself, which he found great thrill out of, then we sang Happy Birthday to him and Papa, and then he blew the candles out. I gave Liam a cupcake off of his cake and he picked it up, looked at me and said, "After this, I cannot have any more." "Nope." I replied. I don't think his stomach could have handled it anyway. He was very excited about the treat of a birthday cupcake, even if it was just one, it meant the world to him.

I went for a run in the evening around 9:00, and when I got back, Phillip told me that he heard some noise coming from the kids' room, and when he went back there, he found Liam over by Annabelle's bed, her standing up and both of them giggling and playing. He was upset at first and told them both to go back to bed, but then we both agreed it was pretty funny, must have been all the sugar.
