October 2-12, 2011

All those days:

Yup...it's been over a week since I've added anything, and while I can make stuff, I figured the honesty of parenthood is much better and touches on the reality of it more.

We've been going to the park a lot, which Liam really likes.  We usually take some trucks to play with and to share with the other kids.  At first, Liam like to search around for the most acorns he can find and ask me to hold them.  A short while later, he forgets about them and Annabelle ends up trying to eat them.  He's ventured onto playscapes now, but has yet to go down the slides.  He and Annabelle always play together and yell and scream as loud as they want without their Mom telling them to talk quieter.  They love it!  In the back park, Liam has figured out how to work the digger tool/toy/thing (I have no idea what it's called) and he's really proud of that.  He still likes the rocking horse, and no matter what he is doing, he always ends up with his shoes off.  Definitely my son.

Oh, Liam's going to be thing, that we thought was solved by him staying in bed and not getting up....yeah, that's not happening anymore.   He's up, about fifty million times.  The other night, after he had gone down the list of water, food, pee, brush teeth, not tired, hot, cold, he got to the 'scared of my airplane' excuse.  We tried to fight that for about ten minutes (this is after thirty minutes of previous fighting about going to bed) I went in with a roll of paper and a tape and taped over the airplane.  If I had paint handy, I would have painted over it.  Feeling proud that I not only saved my son from fear, but also got ride of an excuse to get out of bed, I left his room.  A couple minutes later, he gets up, "I'm scared of my trees, will you tape over my trees Mommy?"  I don't think there are words that are suitable for young ears that would adequately depict my rage.  I did keep my calm though and the next morning took the paper down from the airplane and said, "I know you're not really scared of the airplane, so I'm taking this down.  And I'm never taping over it again, or your trees."  When he mentions it now, I ignore him and walk him back to bed.  I think it's wise of me to start taking some Rescue Remedy before I start bedtime for now on.

Let's see...Liam still rides his scooter and he even attempts to ride it to the park.  He gets tired and I put it in the stroller along with him and Annabelle, but at the park he rides it a lot and always shares with Violet or Ari, whoever is there.  Ari and Beth did come over for dinner the other night, and that was a lot of fun.  They played together pretty well for the most part.  Ari got a little aggressive and hit Liam, two which he yelled back "Don't hit me!!" instead of hitting him back.  I was proud.  Ari is quite the opposite of Liam.  Air likes people to be very close to him, he likes to get it other's faces and play rough and lots and lots of stimuli.  Liam doesn't.  He's much more mellow.  There are sometimes moments where we have to keep a close on them so one of them doesn't disrupt the other.  By the end of the night, it was past bedtime, and Liam was cranky and had some issues getting his overalls on (which he refuses to let anyone help with) and Ari startled him.  This threw Liam into a tailspin of overload.  He didn't want anything else to do with Ari, just mom and maybe Annabelle.  They left shortly after, as they were already on their way out.

I can't remember much else.  I'm sure there is more, and I will never be able to catch everything.
